What is a questionnaire ?
A set list of questions asked in the same way every time.
What are the strengths of questionnaires ?
They are relatively cheap compared to interviews (practical)
They are relatively quick to conduct (practical)
They obtain quantitative data so easier to compare (theoretical)
They can be geographically widespread (theoretical)
What are the weaknesses of questionnaires ?
No way of stopping research if someone gets upset (ethical)
Questions may be misunderstood (theoretical)
They obtain quantitative data - lacks detail (theoretical)
Response rate can be low (theoretical)
How do you combat the issue with questionnaires ?
You could offer incentives. However, this would make answers less valid since participants may randomly answer questions use to win the incentive
