16
Q

What does a constant speed mean

A

This is when an object moves at the same rate covering equal distance in equal time intervals

17
Q

Why is it unusual for ice to float in water mixed with food dye

A

It is unusual as in general solids are denser than liquids meaning their particles are closer together which means they will sink when put in water, but when water is frozen into ices it is less dense than water in ligquid form as when the particles freeze they lose energy and forms a hexagonal structure, because the water molecules are spaced further apart then they are as a liquid which decrease overall density of the ice and allows it to float on water

18
Q

Why does heating cause air pressure to increase in tyres

A

Becuase heated air molecules move faster as they gain energy and collide more frequently with the inner walls of the tyre which has a fixed volume so pressure cannot be released by volume but the pressure increases

19
Q

Equation for acceleration

A

Final speed - initial speed / time

20
Q

Equation from pressure

A

Force / area

21
Q

Namea strong acid

A

Hydrochloric acid

22
Q

Name a strong alkali

A

Sodium hydroxide

23
Q

Photosynthesis equation:

A

carbon dioxide + sunlight + water -> glucose + oxygen

24
Q

Aerobic respiration equation?

A

Glucose +oxygen -> carbon dioxide +water

25
What do carbs do for the body
Provide a primary source of energy
26
What are proteins used for in the body
Cell growth and repair
27
What are lipids (fats) used for in the body
energy if carbs run out
28
What are vitamins used for
Vital processes in the body
29
What are minerals useful in the body?
Healthy calcium is used for strong teeth and bones Iron for healthy blood They do a variety of things to keep you healthy
30
What is fibre used for in the body
Moving food through the digestive system
31
What is water used for in the body
All chemical reaction
32
Equation for moment
Force x distance
33
What is the test that can be done to see of hydrogen is present
The test that can be done to see if hydrogen is present is the squeaky pop test which is when a lit splint is placed near the mouth of a test tube, if the gas is a present it will ignite with a loud squeaky pop, this happens because hydrogen will rapidly combust with oxygen creating the pop sound
34
How do daffodils create glucose
Daffodils create glucose through photosynthesis which turns sunlight, water and carbon dioxide into glucose which is used for the plants growth and development
35
How are ally’s different from compounds
Alloys are mixtures where elements are physically combined while compounds are chemically combined and form new substances
36
What may species rely on each other for
Shelter, food , seed dispersal , pollination
37
If an object can float in water it is known as what…
Buoyant and its weight will be less or equal to the upthrust of the water
38
What is 1 kcal equal to in joules
4200J
