What is the schniffell plan
The plan aimed to quickly defeat France by invading through Belgium (which was neutral), capturing Paris in about 6 weeks, and then turning to fight Russia, which was expected to take longer to get its army ready.
Why did the schiffel plan fail
Belgium resisted more than expected.
• Britain entered the war to protect Belgium.
• The German army was slowed down, and France was not quickly defeated.
• Russia mobilised faster than expected, so Germany had to send troops east sooner than planned.
