What were some reasons Europeans went exploring during the Age of Exploration? (Do not just say “God, Gold, Glory.” Be more thorough
- Set out on voyages to find fame and glory thoughts they would find a great discovery to give honor to their name
- Hoped to find a faster route to Asia silk road had become dangerous and time consuming
- New technology compass from china, astrolabe, better shipbuilding
How was the Age of Exploration related to the Protestant Reformation (2 ways)?
- Different countries and religions want to spread to new areas, which leads to competition in exploration
- People who were persecuted for their religion wanted a place to worship freely, also groups like jesuits wanted to spread their faith
Why was it reasonably easy for the Europeans to take over most of the Americas pretty quickly?
Europeans had Guns, horses, diseases

- The encomienda system was when colonists would be given a certain amount of land and native Americans to work for them as long as they taught the Native Americans about christianity.
- Europeans thought it was fine because they were teaching the Native Americans about christianity
- The results were that because of diseases being spread by the Europeans many Natives died.

French surrendered, yielding to England not only Canada but all French territory east of the Mississippi River

During the Age of Exploration, wealthy “Capitalists” looking to make money will help drive exploration and Colonization. Lots of money to be made investing in overseas ventures

Some slaves were supplied by African rulers in exchange for European firearms or other goods.
