Q

Why not, why didn’t the Muslim League support the ‘Quit India’ campaign? Surely they wanted independence?

A

They wanted independence. However, they wanted to be sure that there would be a separate Muslim state, because if the British left India, the Congress would take over. Muslims would be a minority and their voice might not be heard.
