Q

Are changes in solar intensity responsible for climate change?

A

no, solar radiation is decreasing but temp is going up, solar radiation and temp were coupled until 1975

Q

What are milankovitch cycles?

A

these are changes in the shape of the earths orbit over time
eccentricity- earth rotation goes from oval to more circle: happens every 100 000 years
precession- is like top wobbling happens every 19000 to 24000 years
tilt- happens every 41000 yrs (earth changes tilt on its axis)

milankovitch cycles largely correlate with known glaciations over the last 500 000 years

Q

are milankovitch cycles responsible for climate change?

A

No, they are very predictable and show that solar radiation absorbed hasn’t changed much to account for temp change we see
