steps for finding the D.O and I.O.
- find the action verb
- ask the action verb “whom?” or “what?”. The answer will be direct object
- ask “to whom?” or “for what?”.
The answer will be indirect object
predicate nominative
is a word or word group that is in the predicate and that identifies the subject or refers to it. It may be a noun, pronoun, or word group that functions as a noun. It completes the meaning of a linking verb.
predicate adjectives
is an adjective that is in the predicate and that describes the subject. It completes the meaning of a linking verb.
direct objects
is a noun, pronoun, or word group that tells who or what receives the action of the verb. A D.O. answers the question “whom?’ or “what?” after the transitive verb.
indirect objects
is a noun, pronoun, or word group that sometimes appears in a sentence containing direct objects. It tells to whom or to what, or for whom or for what the action of the verb is done.
