Radioactivity Flashcards
(3 cards)
1
Q
What happens when an electron is “excited”
A
The EM Radiation absorbed by the electron if has absorbed the right amount of energy it will move up to a partially filled or empty shell.
2
Q
What happens after the electron is “excited”
A
The electron quickly goes back to its original shell and emits the same amount of energy back carried by the EM Radiation
3
Q
What does increased energy increased mean
A
Higher frequency of EM radiation
