What is the method for interpreting CXRs?

A

RIPE ABCDE
R- rotation - look at the clavicles
I - inspiration - are the ribs & costophrenic angles visible
P- position - AP or PA (no lable = PA)
E - exposure - are the diaphragm & spine visible
A - airways - trachea, mediastinal shift, hilar region, bronchi
B - breathing - lungs & pleura
C - cardiac - ratio/size, borders eps right, aortic knuckle
D - diaphragm - costophrenic angles
E - everything else - medical devices, bones, soft tissue
