Definition
A Raid is a lighting attk within an en territory/ area to accomplish specific msn. Usually small scale, involving swift penetration of en/ hostile territory to secure info. Confuse the en or destroy his installations/ Hq. Raid consists as.
(a) Lightly equipped and highly mobile.
(b) Size ranging from pl to Bn.{depends on en info and terrain }
(c) Surprise is maintain till last
(d) Grnd is not held
(e) Speedy wdl of tps after completion of task.
(f) Obj of raid is part of the overall Attk plan.
(g) Success of raid depends on SOUND INT, SURPRIZE, DXN and SPEEDY ACTION.

Purpose of Raid
- To captr prisoners or to gain specific info about the en and his activity or abduct cdr and key personal.
- To cptr or destroy specific en det or installations.
- To seize or destroy a particular obj and at times even hold it for short pds awaiting a quick link-up.
- To harass, deceive or disrupt the en in a particular area to draw attention away from other ops.
- In CI ops, it is a common method of dealing with hostiles.
- Raid may also be organized to rescue friendly personnel.
