Describe how to forward bay park

A

Line up mirror with the parking line on the opposite side, steer quickly into the bay and gently straighten wheel as you enter. Check mirrors to see if car is within lines. Then you would look all around, reverse out, stop, look around again, then exit parking area.

Describe how to parallel park

A

line up mirror with middle of car, spin wheel towards the the car once, reverse back until road disappears from mirror. Turn the wheel all the way in the opposite direction and reverse until you are straight. If you are too close to the curb, simply take it out of reverse and move forward and use reverse again if necessary. Always end with the steering wheel straight.

Describe how to reverse bay park

A

Position in the middle of road, drive 3 bays ahead of the bay you chose, so it is level with shoulders. Start reversing and once the next line is level with your shoulders, steer into full lock. Once the car is facing forward, straighten the steering wheel. Then put it into neutral and activate handbrake. Remember: always be looking around the entire car and stop for danger until it’s safe to continue.

How do you change lanes safely, explain the entire process.

A

Look in both center, side mirror and check over shoulder, wait for an opportunity to change lane. Don’t signal until it is safe to change lane. Once you enter the other lane, turn off signal.

A

Stay calm, and keep on going. Don’t try and quickly swerve into the correct lane. Tell the instructor what you have done and plan to do.

A

Simply ask for clarification from the instructor. We aren’t tested on navigation skills. As long as you continue to drive safely and respond to markings and signs, it is ok.

A

Continue on the road ahead, until you see signs for urmston, then follow the signs.

A

No, you don’t need to indicate unless it is a separate lane. If it is just a single road, you can maneuver left and right as long as it is safe to do so.

A

A

This means STOP, it is used at junctions with poor visibility. You must stop and be very cautious.

A

a) you can cross through the broken lines into the hatched area to get into the ‘right turn box’. This is to allow car behind get through.
b) You must wait for the line to end before steering into the box.
