What are mammary papillae?
Opening for mammary glands.
What is the function of vibrissae?
Senses vibrations.
What does the anus do?
Releases solid wastes from the body.
What is the purpose of the tail?
Used for balance.
What is the function of the pinna?
Catches sound.
What is the masseter?
Main chewing muscle, closes the jaw.
What is the hard palate?
Hard rough front part of mouth roof holds saliva.
What is the soft palate?
Soft back of roof of mouth.
What are molars?
Teeth adapted to grinding plant material in rats.
What is the function of the tongue?
Arranges food in mouth and is a taste organ.
What does the esophagus do?
Pushes food from mouth to stomach.
What is the role of the stomach?
Stores food and plays a beginning role in digestion.
What is the duodenum?
1st part of the small intestine produces alkaline secretion to digest contents of stomach.
What is the function of the spleen?
Filters the blood.
What is the liver’s function?
Produces chemicals and bile stored in gallbladder, secreted for digestion of fats.
What is the jejunum?
Middle of 3 divisions in small intestines absorbs nutrients.
What is the mesentery?
Connects small intestine to abdominal wall, holds intestines close together.
What is the ileum?
3rd and last part of the small intestine continues, absorbs nutrients.
What is the cecum?
1st part of large intestine removes water from waste.
What does the ascending colon do?
2nd part of large intestine removes water from waste.
What is the rectum?
Feces last pass in G.I. track before it exits body through anus.
What is the trachea?
Airway to bronchial tubes.
What are the right and left bronchus?
Right and left tubes from trachea to lungs.
What is the function of the right and left lung?
Network for diffusing and bonding oxygen to blood cells in capillaries.
