What is a protagonist?
The main character in a work of fiction.
What is characterization?
The methods an author uses to develop a character – appearance, dialogue, actions, thoughts, and other characters’ opinions all help to bring the character to life.
What is conflict in a story?
The problem in a story – character vs. self, character vs. character, character vs. society, character vs. fate/supernatural, character vs. nature.
What is resolution?
The part of the story when the problem is solved.
What is plausibility?
Having the appearance of truth; the characters, events, and circumstances are believable.
What is point of view?
The vantage point from which a story is told; first person (a character in the story tells the story) or third person (story is told by someone outside of the story).
What is setting?
The time and place in which the action of a story occurs.
What is dialogue?
A conversation carried on by the characters in a story.
What is plot?
The sequence of events in a story.
What is theme?
The statement about life a story is trying to get across to the reader (advice the story provides the reader).
