RDA
Research Description and Access
Definition
- The new standard for descriptive cataloguing, designed primarily for the digital environment.
- Consists of a set of practical instructions and guidelines.
- Shaped by the theoretical framework of FRBR and FRAD (which makes it fundamentally different to AACR2).
Origin
- First published in 2010.
- Brought into being in an attempt to create AACR3.
- RDA replaced AACR2.
- In 2015 RDA was aligned with FRSAD (some changes made to the text and some content added).
