T1706 is located on the right hand side on a gantry. There is a round white sign adjacent to the signal with a black arrow pointing to the Up Relief line. There is a large plate fixed to the right of the signal which is to mitigate risk of read through for trains approaching the station from the Westbury Line.

If the Controlling Signaller requested that you make an unusual move or shunt in the Reading Area that you have never done before, or not done for a long time, what should you do before carrying out this move?

A

BE AWARE that ECS movements represent one of the highest risk activities that drivers’ undertake.
REMEMBER that before commencing any movement, you must ensure that you fully understand what is required and that you are aware of every signal that applies to your movement. If at any point you become unsure of which signal applies to your movement; you must stop immediately and check with the signaller.
NEVER be afraid to ask the signaller for help, and get clarification if you are in anyway unsure with regards to the movement that is taking place.
