Simile
Comparing two or more things using “like” or “as”.
Her smile was as bright as the sun
Metaphor
Comparing two or more things without using “like” or “as”.
Alliteration
The same sound at the beginning of closely connected words
Onomatopoeia
A sound effect word: POW, BANG, CLAP, etc.
Hyperbole
Exaggeration
The coconut was as large as a plane. (idk)
Personification
Giving human qualities to an inanimate object
The sun smiled at me as i walked briskly doiw
Symbol
An object or idea used to represent something
Imagery
The use of description to paint a picture of something in the reader’s head
The sunlight burst through the tall trees, creating mosaics on the rough forest floor, covered with leaves and bushes of all sorts.
Apostrophe
Talking to an inanimate object or nothing at all (Schizo final boss)
“Hey wall, whats up bro?” nothing “Oh, how was my day? Glad you asked…”
Analogy
The comparison of two or more things; usually for the purpose of explanation or simplification
She’s as blind as a bat.
Conflict
A struggle or a fight in a story.
Nolan and Quentin fought over Nolan’s new pair of shoes because Quentin wanted them.
Flashback
When the character goes back in time to view events of importance

Dialogue
Anybody talking in a story. “ “
“Hey, Nolan.” Quentin said calmly. “Hi Quentin.” Nolan replied.
Irony
The expression of ones feelings, usually in an oppoisite or humourous way
“Hey, are you okay?” Nolan said when Quentin broke his leg. “Yeah Nolan, I’m completely fine.”
Inference
A conclusion based off of evidence and reasoning
The man inferred that it was raining, because he had seen it on the weather, and dark clouds covered the sky.
