Methods of Elizabeth Linos (2018) article

- Randomized control trial held on household level
- Involved sending postcards to individuals listed as registered voters (this was done for 3 reasons: city had individual-level data including address and demographics; registered voter = meeting some of minimum eligibility requirements of being a police officer; being registered voter could correlate with being more civic-minded than average resident)
- Postcards had some common characteristics (i.e. black male officer on the card, signed message from same officer on back), but varied the types of sentences written on them

Why did Constable Scarecrow not work as well on residential routes?
A
Residential routes are travelled by the same people more frequently, so therefore adjustment to the presence and inanimacy of the cutout is faster
