real-time PCR Flashcards
1
Q
Name some advantages of real-time PCR
A
- Monitor how cycles are progressing in real-time
- When compared to a known dilution standard, you can precisely measure the amount of amplicon at each cycle, allowing you to determine the amount of starting material
- Due to the exponential amplification nature of PCR, you can detect a wide range of samples
- Amplification and detection occur in a single-tube, removing the need for post-PCR manipulations
2
Q
How accurate is real-time PCR?
A
To a degree of a 1.5 fold accuracy
