heat from pan stimulates the pain receptor which sends an impulse along the sensory neuron. It goes to the spinal cord where it crosses the gap to the interneuron. The interneuron then transmits an impulse to the motor neuron which carries the impulse to the effector. The muscle responds by drawing the arm back.
