What do bilateral distribution of skin lesions typically represent?
Non-infectious skin lesions
4 commonest non-infectious, bilateral skin conditions:
- Eczema
- Urticaria
- Psoriasis
- Drug eruption
Fts of urticaria:
- Wheals / hives
- Angioedema
What is a hive?
- Superficial
- Skin-colored swelling
- Surrounded by redness
- Lasts: few min - 24 hours
- Very itchy
What is angioedema?
1.** Deeper swelling** w/in the skin or mucous membranes
2. Skin-colored or red
3. Resolves within 72 hours
4. May be itchy or painful
5. Often ASx
What is psoriasis?
Chronic inflammatory skin condition
Fts of psoriasis:
- Red, scaly plaques
- Clearly defined borders
- Plaques affect any part of the body
Commonest cause of drug eruption?

A skin rash in adults is usually due to a?

Viral or bacterial infections
Fts of drug eruption rash:
- Red skin
