What was American Imperialism?

A

Post Civil War, Americans became more interested in building an empire of their own, becoming more involved in foreign affairs, breaking isolationism, and exploring expansionism

A

There were no ambassadors to represent the American interests. Instead, there were only 24 American foreign ministers that were in key countries. These foreign ministers had often not gained their position through diplomatic skills or expertise, but through bribes.
