A

A

What are psychometric tests?

A

These fall into personality tests and aptitude tests
Personality- may ask the candidate about their feelings or behaviour in certain situations
Aptitude- may ask about numeracy, literacy, problem solving etc

What is attainment or proficiency tests?

A

Used to measure knowledge or skills that are important to a particular job, these are generally:

  • knowledge tests
  • work sample/performance tests

What are medical/ fitness tests?

A

Doctor/nurse carries out a medical examination to assess whether there are any medical conditions or fitness score that may affect their suitability to the job

What are intelligence tests?

A

Designed to assess the mental capability of the applicant. Questions include problem solving, thinking skills, numeracy and literacy

What are assessment centres?

A

Many large businesses have their own assessment centres where applicants are asked to take part in role play exercises, team building, leaderless group discussions and to create and deliver presentations

What are probationary periods?

A

The candidate has to demonstrate an acceptable level of performance during this time before they are appointed permanently, allows the candidate to be appointed with a track record
