What does red shift tell us?
It tells us that the galaxies are moving away from each other
What happens when the galaxies are moving away from each other
The light waves are stretched and the observed wave length increased
What is the correlation between galaxy’s distance away from us and Red shift.
The further away the Galaxy the bigger the red shift it has.
Therefore the galaxies are moving faster than galaxies that are closer
How can we view red shift
When we take light from sun and pass it through a prism, we get a spectrum,
Dark lines on the spectrum represent wavelengths
How can we prove that the univers is constantly expanding
Distant galaxies are moving faster than nearby galaxies, this therefore provides evidence that the universe is expanding.
What do scientists believe abt the universe.
The universe began from a small hot dense region.
That region expanded into the modern day universe.
This is the Big Bang Theory
