A

An insight into Scrooges close relationship with Fan and sad ending of engagement with Belle.
Relationships show that Scrooge is capable of showing love and kindness and suggest he can still show them. Also prove that things like love and companionship were once important to him.

Which foreshadows Scrooges own redemption. Dickens suggest Scrooges father had similar attitudes to Scrooge. However when Fab comes to collect him “ he is so much kinder than he used to be”.
