1
Q

Q

A

When behaviour is learned through insight rather than trial and error. The “aha experience”. When all parts of the problem are seen in relation to each other and it forms a meaningful whole.

Q

What were the findings of Kohler’s (1925) study?

A

Initially the chimp tried to reach the banana but couldn’t. The chimp stopped after a short while, reached for the stick and used it to pull in the banana.

Q

Why does the humanistic approach support the holistic view?

A

Study of the whole person
There is no point studying small aspects of humans and ignoring the bigger picture

A

Influence of thoughts

17
Q

What is the sociocultural level?

A

Influence of where and how we live

18
Q

What is biological reductionism?

A

Explaining behaviour at the physiological level. Says that all behaviour can be explained by considering the neurochemical, neurophysiological, evolutionary and genetic influences.

19
Q

What is environmental reductionism?

A

Explaining behaviour at the physical level. Only looks at stimulus-response.

20
Q

What is machine reductionism?

A

Explaining behaviour in terms of input, processing, output
Views human mind as similar to a computer. Cognitive approach.
