A
  • immediate treatment

- eg treating open wounds, giving gas etc

Process of RICE… (for sprains or strains

A
  • R: Rest injured area immediately
  • I: Ice area for 15-20 mins which reduces internal bleeding and prevents swelling
  • C: Compression which reduces swelling and increases healing time
  • E: Elevation above the heart which reduces the blood flow to it and decreases swelling

A

1) What is wrong
2) How it happened eg intrinsic or ex, poor technique? etc
3) Best course of treatment

  • Rest injured area but keep general exercise with little strain on the body eg sprained ankle = swim with pull boy
