The Catholic Church views Sex as being Marital, unitive and procreative.

- That both Men and Women were created in the image of God and are blessed by him, therefore making them equal.
- That God created both men and women.
- That men and women are expected to procreate.
What does Genesis 2 state about the creation of men and women?
That God takes Adam (humanity) and splits it into 2 complementary parts.
This shows the idea of equality between sexes as men and women complement each other.
Each person is able to give what the other lacks, producing a harmony that isn’t possible in isolation.

The sacrament of marraige enables 2 people to commit themselves publicly and exclusively to one another.
The promises made before God in the Catholic Church include a commitment to be together for life.
After promises are made, the commitment is consumated by the physical union of sex.
For a marraige to be valid there has to be sexual intercourse.

Sexual love expresses and deepens the couples’ love for each other.

As it destroys the unity of the married couple and is an act of betrayal.

Through Sex God creates new life.

God loves every person and created both sexes to have dignity and value.
The full meaning of the body is appreciated through a deep realtion with the opposite sex in marriage.
Sex is an essential part of marraige and should only occur in marraige.

It may break a marriage promise but there amy be a reason why, such as if one partner refuses to have sex. Some may not of made a “life long” promise.
Pesonal happiness is important, even if it causes sadness for someone else.
Maybe the couple made a mistake in getting married and they’ve found someone that they find more suitable to have a relationship with.
What does a valid Catholic Marriage need?
The 2 people must declare that they are willing to accept God’s gift of children.
Both must promise that they will remain together “for richer for poorer, in sickeness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part”
The couple must be free to marry. (Not married to someone who is still alive, or bound by vows to the priesthood or a religious community).

He said that whilst homosexual acts are sinful, homosexuality itself isn’t and homosexuals shouldn’t be excluded from society.

It breaks the sanctity of sexual union.
It may destroy the sense of family.

If one partner does not take the exclusive nature of marraiepge seriously.
They always insist of using contraception.
