Yes, every relationship hits problems, and you can only get through the bad times by working at it, walking away could be easier.
What sort of responsibilities might we have with regard to relationships?
Laws (about marriage or divorce); looking after other people around the world, or your friends and family; following specific religious teachings.
What sort of commitments could you make with regard to relationships?
Wedding vows; commitment to God, eg church membership/attendance; chastity.
What has happened to attitudes towards towards sex over the last 100 years?
Dramatic change, especially same sex relationships, much more permissive. Women, especially, have gained sexual “freedom”, though many feel pressure to “keep their man” before they are ready.
What is the Christian view of sex?
A gift from God - Genesis “be fruitful” means that some Christians believe that they must have sex and produce children.
What is the Christian view of contraception?
Roman Catholic view is that it is against the injunction to “multiply”. The Catholic authority has recently allowed contraception to avoid sexually transmitted disease, but not to prevent children. The Anglican (C of E) view is that contraception is OK, as expressing your love to your partner through sex is as important.
What is the Christian view of the place of sex in a relationship?
It should be saved for a committed relationship, some suggest that it should be saved until marriage.
