What are two examples of relative deprivation?

A

Watts suburb of LA, lead to riots due to injustice of 3 black family member arrests $35m was damaged. Military called in.
South Central LA, due to 4 white policemen beating Rodney King, 63 dead 2,383 injured $1b property damages, beating of white truck driver Reginald Denny.

A

It is a function of negative behaviour, aversive events, aggressive association between groups due to event.

What is the J-Curve hypothesis?

A

The idea that expectations are that life will increase exponentially in regard to economic wealth and stability, but in reality it may be a J curve as life may dip when responsibility increases and wealth does not. The difference and discontent between expectations ad reality can be seen as relative deprivation.

A

Sense that our group has less in comparison to the collective aspirations or other groups, e.g. north of England to south.

A

A
