Q

Jesus was a liberal

A

I’m no expert on religion, but I’m pretty sure Jesus would not be

In favor of building walls,

Implementing bans on refugees,

Denying people healthcare,

Or hating on minorities that protest authority.

Q

Why are atheists so hateful?

A

What’s more hateful?

  1. Telling someone they’re a delusional fool for believing in god
  2. Telling someone they will burn in hell for all eternity for not believing in their god

A

November 1 - January 15

The world’s major religions observe 29 different holidays.

25
Q

1 Peter 3:15

A

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts:
and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

26
Q

Luke 6:30

A

Give to every man that asketh of thee;

and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

27
Q

Mark 16

A

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved…

18 … if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them

28
Q

God did it!

A

It’s a meaningless panacea when we invent a god that can do anything and be anything…

It serves as an answer to every question and an explanation for nothing

29
Q

God is not deserving of respect

A

A god that rewards credulity,

a god that sanctions slavery,

is unworthy of any kind of reverence or respect or devotion.

30
Q

I don’t believe something based on faith.

A

I have reasonable expectations based on evidence.

I have trust that has been earned.

I will grant trust tentatively.

I don’t have faith.

Faith is the excuse people give for believing something when they don’t have evidence.

31
Q

God’s plan

A
  • god has an important message for mankind
  • we have to rely on copies of copies of translations of copies by anonymous authors with no originals
  • anecdotal testimonial reports of miracles (loaves and fishes) are not sufficient evidence
  • anything that would qualify as a god would know this
  • god either doesn’t exist OR doesn’t care enough about those who understand the nature of evidence to actually present it
32
Q

Why is there something instead of nothing?

A

That makes no sense at all.

Surely, the bigger question is not why but how.

Why is irrelevant, isn’t it?

33
Q

I am against religion because…

A

It teaches us to be satisfied with NOT understanding the world.

  • Richard Dawkins
34
Q

Jesus on Healthcare

A

Who would Jesus deny healthcare to?

35
Q

Jesus on the Minimum wage

A

Would Jesus be against a living wage?

36
Q

Mark 7:9

A

And he said unto them,

Full well ye reject the commandment of God,
(Reject god’s law)

that ye may keep your own tradition.
(Keep your law)

37
Q

Humanism

The ultimate moral good is to…

A

promote human wellbeing–health, happiness, longevity, knowledge, experience of men, women and children

38
Q

Alternative moral systems

The ultimate moral good is to …

A

…carry out god’s commandments

…maximize the glory of the nation / race / creed

39
Q

What will happen after your dead?

A

Lots of things.

They just won’t involve me.

40
Q

I don’t hate people with religion.

A

I hate religion.

Just like I don’t hate peoples with cancer; I hate cancer.

41
Q

Why can’t you checkmate a Christian?

A

Because they are all pawns and their king doesn’t exist.

42
Q

If you’re helping someone and expecting something in return…

A

you are doing business, not kindness.

43
Q

Why do Christians get offended?

A

It’s not as if I follow a book that says you deserve to burn for eternity for not having the same beliefs as me.

44
Q

You cannot convince a believer of anything.

A

For their belief is not based on evidence, it’s based on a deep seated need to believe.
- Carl Sagan

45
Q

If someone doesn’t value evidence…

A

what evidence are you going to provide to prove that they should value it.
- Sam Harris

46
Q

If someone doesn’t value logic…

A

what logical argument could you provide to show the importance of logic.
- Sam Harris

47
Q

You believe in a book that has…

A

talking animals, wizards, witches, demons, sticks turning into snakes, burning bushes, food falling from the sky, people walking on water, and all sorts of magical, absurd, and primitively stories, and you say the we are the ones that need help?
- Mark Twain

48
Q

“The fact that a believer is happier than a skeptic…

A

is no more to the point than the fact that a drunken man is happier than a sober one.”

-George Bernard Shaw

49
Q

Why do people believe in god?

A

God is a coping mechanism for people who cannot deal with the harsh realities of life.
