Muhammad was born in 570CE. At 6 he became an orphan and was raised by his grandfather. Then he was taken in by his wealthy uncle who was a merchant . Muhammad started working for his uncle and became a merchant himself.
At 25 Muhammad married Khadijah. They lived a very happy and peaceful life. Muhammad’s lived in Mecca where everyone was greedy and money hungry. Muhammad felt that the people of Mecca were lost and needed guidance so he went to the quiet hills , mountain hira , to pray.
Then in 610 CE angel gabreil appeared to prophet Muhammad , while he was praying and told him that there was only one god , Allah. Angel gabreil also said that Muhammad has been chosen to be Allah messenger . This night is know as the night of power and excellence.
Prophet Muhammad went home to tell his wife Khadijah. Khadijah became the first official follower of Islam. Muhammad went to Mecca to preach the good news about the one god Allah. However his messenger was not received very well. The arbs were polytheistic and saw prophet Muhammad as a threat. At first Muhammad was banned from preaching Allah but then the local leaders decided to kill him.
In 622 CE Muhammad and his family and dew followers left Mecca , on a secret journey to medina. This is known as the Hijra. Muhammad and his few followers had a much warmer welcome in medina and had many converts to islam. The first Islamic community was made in medina and the first mosque was built there. The religion of islam grew all over the city and eventually prophet Muhammad became the leader of medina.
In 630 CE prophet Muhammad and his many followers decided to go back to Mecca. Prophet Muhammad went straight to the ka’ba and took down any images worshipping different gods. Muhammad told the people of of Mecca that all Muslims would have to make a pilgrimage to the ka’ba shrine. Before long , most of the people living in Mecca had converted to Islam.
Muhammad died in 632 CE. He was buried in medina. Muslims believe that he was the last and greatest of all prophets in islam.
