  • fewer people believed in astrology so they stopped using astrology charts
  • Improved knowledge of digestion meant stop using urine charts
  • carried out more direct observations and examinations rather than having the patient explain

What were the changes in hospitals?

A
  • hospital used more by sick people and less by travellers and pilgrims
  • 1563 - dissolution of the monasteries
  • some free charity hopsitals set up but not untill 1700’s did they reach pre-dissolution
    -pest houses for specific contagious diseases
  • when hospitals re-appeared they were run by a phsicians who focused on healing the sick rather than religion

A

bigger reaction from local councils
who were ordered by the king to try and stop it from spreading
-dogs + cats killed
- streets were cleaned
– carts collected the dead and burried them in deep mass graves
