What is contenance angloise?
The “English guise” which is characterized as a “new way of composing with lively consonances. Dominated by 3rds, 5ths, and 6ths.
What is Cantus Firmus?
A fixed melody that served as the basis of a composition.
What is Pervading imitation?
A series of musical ideas are stated imitatively in all voices throughout an entire work or section of a work. All voices more or less equal.

A direct connection between words and music.
What is a tactus?
A steady pulse throughout a piece rather than stressed downbeats.

The practice of sharpening or flattening certain notes even though they aren’t notated as such.

a secular vocal composition for three or more voices all playing an equal role. Available for amateurs. 4 voices earlier, 5 voices later.

Setting each line of text to essentially new music. Allowed for explicit word painting. Stylistic of madrigal.
