  • Dx:Biopsy gold standard, UA, SCr, BUN
  • Tx: Supportive; Abx

Most common cause of acute glomerulonephritis in adults worldwide.

  • Often affects young males within days of URI or GI Infx (d/t IgA immune complexes)
  • Tx: ACE Inhibitors and steroids

  • Small vessel vascultis (thought d/t immune complex deposition; URI often precedes).
  • Sx: Purpuric skin lesions on lower extremities (primarily), arthralgia, hematuria indicates renal damage.
  • Tx: Steroids

  • Triad: 1) Thrombocytopenia; 2) Hemolytic anemia; 3) acute renal failure (lysed cells clog glomeruli). Often proceeded by E. coli 0157.
  • Tx: usually self limited
