  2. The bomb must be placed in a bomb basket or wrapped on a protective bomb blanket depending on the size, type of the bomb and it’s construction
  3. For reason of safety, it must be loaded/transported through a bomb containment vehicle
17
Q

Transportation Procedure of IED

4-6

A

18
Q

When no other alternative EOD procedures applicable except to blast-in-place the suspected improvised explosive device (IED) as a means of neutralizing it, what is the recommneded procedure?

A

The Team Leader or Senior EOD PNCO will determine the necessary course of action with the following considerable factors:
* Location of the bomb
* Information and proper indetification of the reported IED

19
Q

Method of Render-Safe-Procedure use:

A
  1. Remote Removal
  2. Hand Entry
  3. Blast-In-Place (BIP)
20
Q

True or False

Recon the suspected IED by looking at it with your eyes

A

False, use field glass or binoculars

21
Q

Blast-In-Place of unknown IED is applicable in an open area and the following safety procedures outline are recommended:

1-5

A
  1. Secure the area and control access of people within the vicinty
  2. Search area for secondary explosive devices
  3. Protective work must be undertaken by means of baffling which is placing sandbags around the IED to minimize blast fragments damage
  4. Control Damages
  5. Selection of necessary EOD tools and equipment for the operation
22
Q

Blast-In-Place of unknown IED is applicable in an open area and the following safety procedures outline are recommended:

6-10

A
