What is repentance?

-changed way of life, as a result of a complete change of thought
and attitude with regard to sin and righteousness.

Do we have to repent? Is it optional?
Jesus said
‘“The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” ‘

repentance is NOT optional; there is no salvation (to be
delivered from a fate that would result in injury or death) without
repentance.

What are 3 things that should happen when you repent?

1. Change of heart, change of mind, and change of behavior, actions, and
   lifestyle
2. Admit that you are wrong and God is right
3. Must be done often as you learn more of Christ

-Requires fruit, which is CHANGE that is visible to others

-it is a process:
 conviction- feel remorse (realizing you are wrong)
 make the change (abandone excuses, accept the truth)
 confess
 accept the forgiveness of the Father
