where did The Black Death come from
began in Asia and spread to Europe along trade routes
by what date had it reached the far north of England, Wales and Ireland

how was it spread
mainly through fleas living on rats - however this was not known by medieval people
what were the 3 types of plague and their symptoms
Bubonic plague - buboes (swelling in the armpits and groin), fever, blisters filled with fluid, death in a few days
Septicaemic plague - bleeding, diarrhoea and vomiting, fingers toes and nose turns black
Pneumonic plague - coughing up blood, chest pains and trouble breathing, death in two days

- God was punishing the people for their sins

- Out of balance humours
two different treatments for the Black Death
- Tying live toads or chickens to the buboes to draw out disease
- Blood letting to balance out the humours
how did people use pure air to protect themselves
