What is sexual reproduction?
The fusion of male and female gametes

23 which is half the genetic material
What is asexual reproduction?
When only one parent is needed to reproduce and no gametes are used
What are advantages of asexual reproduction?
The process is quick and only one parent is needed
What are the disadvantages of asexual reproduction?
There is no variation so a disease could wipe out the population
Organisms have less chance of adapting to new conditions
What are the advantages of sexual reproduction?
Lots of variations so population less likely to get wiped out by a single event
Allows for evolution to take place
What are the disadvantages of sexual reproduction?
Takes more time and energy
