What is Reproduction?
The production of offspring by a sexual or asexual process.
What are the two types of Reproduction?
Asexual & Sexual
What is Asexual Reproduction?
The production of offspring involving only one parent.
What are the advantages of Asexual reproduction?
Mates are not required, offspring are identical to parent, can occur in various environments, process is rapid and large amount of organisms can be produced.
What are the disdvantages of Asexual reproduction?
Change in environment eliminates entire species, unable to adapt to changing environments, affected by the same disease and populations grow quickly (run out of resources).
What is Sexual Reproduction?
The production of offspring by a male and female parent.
What are the advantages of Sexual reproduction?
Offspring are unique, adapts to changing environments, improves health and protected from disease bc of diverse genes.
What are the disadvantages of Sexual reproduction?
Fewer offspring, takes time and energy, reproduction is uncertain and offspring may inherit bad traits.
