The amount of pixels available per inch of the screen/image this is shown as DPI (dots per inch) or PPI (pixels per inch)
Most screens will only display 72dpi
Large file size is bad for web as it takes to long to load this affects Google ranking and general seo

Screen based images are usually viewed at 72 DPI/PPI
Print media should be high dpi - 300+

Quality is more important for print so a larger file size is not important
File size is vital in digital if it takes to long to load we can be punished by algorithms
When viewing and image larger than the set file resolution the image can become pixelated
