Allergic reactions are characterized by?
Urticaria, mild resp distress, difficulty swallowing, swelling, and edema of tongue or face
Mild Allergy (urticaria only) treatment
Benadryl 50 mg IV/IO/IM
Moderate allergy (swelling, mild resp distress, bronchospasm, swelling) treatment?
- Epi 1:1,000 0.3 mg IM may repeat x 2 every 5 min
- Benadryl 50 mg IV/IO/IM
- Albuterol 2.5 mg in 3 ml after Epi.
- Atrovent 0.5 in 2.5 ml with albuterol.
- Solumedrol 125 mg IV/IO/IM over 2 min
*** DO NOT administer Epi within 5 min of EPi pen.
Severe anaphylaxis reaction wiht hypotension or loss of radial pulse treatment?
- Epi 1:100,000 titrate
- NS 1 liter may repeat 1x
- Benadryl 50 mg
- Albuterol 2.5 mg in 3 ml after Epi.
- Atrovent 0.5 in 2.5 ml with albuterol.
- Solumedrol 125 mg IV/IO/IM over 2 min
o2 levels for resp distress?
Keep above 95%
ETCO2 between 35-45 mmHg
COPD asthma O2 levels?
Keep above 90% or greater
Moderate to Severe resp distress treatment?
CPAP 10 cm H2O
Contraindications of CPAP?
Systolic less than 90 mmHg
Airway obstruction
Acute MI
Pneumo
Decreased level of conciousness.
Brochospasms/Wheezing treatment?
- Albuterol 2.5 mg in 3 ml after Epi.
- Atrovent 0.5 in 2.5 ml with albuterol.
- Solumedrol 125 mg IV/IO/IM over 2 min
Worsening Bronchospasms after albuterol treatment?
Epi 1:1,000 0.3 mg IM
Severe asthma not responding to treatments?
Mag Sulfate 2gm in 50 mL of NS over 10 min in 10 gtt/set
