Q

Define Gaseous exchange?

A

the process where oxygen from the air in the alveoli moves into the blood in the air in the capillaries, while carbon dioxide moves from the capillaries into the air in the alveoli.

Q

What is the Bohr effect?

A

When respiratory rate increases there is an increase of CO2 in the blood.

CO2 Dissolves into carbonic acid and this lowers the PH in blood which causes hemoglobin to release more O2 enabling muscles to work at the same rate
