What does the tubercle of the rib attach to?
The head attaches to the inferior articular facet of the number that goes above the rib and the superior facet of the number that corresponds with it - so Rib 7 attaches to the inferior facet of T6 and the superior facet of T7
The tubercle of the rib attaches to the transverse process of the same numbered vertebrae - rib 7 to T7
What does the tubercle articulate with?
The transverse process
What lies in the costal groove?
Intercostal nerves and vessels
What ribs are true ribs and what does this mean?
1-7 attaches to the sternum directly
What ribs are false ribs?
8-10 - attaches to sternum via cartilage

Only articulates T1
Different shape
Has two grooves for the subclavian artery and vein
Has a tubercle for the scalene muscle
Anterior or posterior to the 1st rib - Sub Clavian Vein and SC artery
