Cosmology

The Big Bang theory
The origins of the universe are the result of a cosmic explosion. This caused matter and gases to fly out in all directions and eventually cooled to form stars, planets and the world.
The steady state theory
The universe has no origin but is expanding because new matter is being created all the time.
Evolution
The sequence of events involved in the progressive development of a species

Church of England attitude towards animals
Animals are created by god and have an intrinsic value for that reason. Humans have an obligation and an affinity to animals.
Quaker attitude towards animals
Respect for animals is at the core of a Quaker understanding of reverence for life. Humans do not have a right over animals.
The catholic attitude towards animals
“We owe them kindness” but can be used to provide food and clothing can be domesticated and used in medical and scientific experiments “if it remains within reason”. Animals are not the equal of humans and do not have human rights.
