how have you displayed accuracy
Strathmere= counting and preparing specific portions to not waste food
manotick concrete= concrete poarches must be exact to run water but not be noticeable slanted
P.O. stairs= must be constructed to not become a tripping hazard every stair must be identical
how have you displayed adaptability
Strathmere= often have unique dietary restrictions the day of wedding and need to prepare something on the fly
MC= change plans as the weather changes the poarches are exposed to the elements
P.O.= find suprizes while renovation old homes
OFS=as an officer you make a plan in your head and once on scene change your plan to the unique situation and different staffing levels
HFD=often working with a crew i may be meeting for the first time
situational/ spatial awareness
Strathmere= working in a busy kitchen with knives, hot pots, and other dangers
mc= working with large and heavy equipment
P.O. = translate blue prints into reality
OFS = understand where crews are on scene and recognize your impact on the fire scene how it effects other crews
HFD= as you are searching you a building a floor plan in your head as you go
Chain of Command
Strathmere= kitchens working a paramilitary organization where chefs report to the sous and the sous report to the head chef
OFS = acting lt under stood how to pass information up the chain of command and down the chain of command
HFD=work withing a strict chain of command on scene and in station
Collaboration
Strathmere= work with cooks, servers, wedding planners and guests to deliver a multi course meal
MC= work with other crews to complete large projects to complete on time
P.O. = work with home owners to create their vision
F1= collaborate with doctors, paramedic and firefighters from all over Canada
Compassion
OFS= responding in the community to people i know its important to show compassion we are responding to emergencies and it might be someone’s home or family member in trouble
OM= helping build up people by showing compassion for their situation
DC= communicate compassion and empathy for people experiencing mental health crisis
communication
Strathmere=communicate with event planers and staff to coordinated meal times with speeches, photos, and other event plans
P.O.= constantly in communication with home owners about the status of projects and upcoming project designs
OFS= communicate size ups under pressure to arrive resources
HFD= communicate with crew in zero visibility and other crews on scene by radio
DC= communicate and deescalate with people experiencing mental health crisis
creativity
Strathmere= artistically plate food with garnishes to increase presentation
P.O.=come up with creative solutions to problems or creative was to complete job like making a job specific jig
Critical thinking
DC= work with callers with suicidal ideations to make a plan that will keep them safe for the next 24hrs
dedication
OFS= often putting in 30 hours a week , and during work hours leave the job site to go to emergencies and then return to the job to stay late
HFD= continued my goal of becoming a career fire fighter, even after continued to get training and education
DC= volunteer in the community even while holding two jobs
Dependable
Strathmere= promoted from a young age because I was reliable
P.O. sadler = can count on one hand the number of days I missed
OFS= always made time to respond to call, consistently the top or in the top percentage of call response percentage for station 83
HFD= dependable to complete tasks by my self like operating the pump , catching the plug, or other tasks
Disciplined
MC= crew leader forming poarches important to lead by example
P.O. Sadler= completing job and project on my own i have to hold my self accountable
OFS= an acting lieutenant in a leader ship role, i made sure i was fallowing sops, go’s
HFD continue to review city’s code of conduct and hold my self to it
Diversity and culture
Strathmere= work with customers to complete functions and ceremonies of varied cultural back grounds
OFS=be apart of an inclusive fire service that values diversity
HFD= respond into largely minority areas of the city
DC= service a diverse client population from Ottawa, northwest territories, Nunavut, Nunavik, grey Bruce, outauis and other small regions
Travel = experience the culture in Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, south Africa, Tanzania, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, and Mexico
image conscious
Strathmere= sometimes have to travel through the wedding proceeding
P.O.= only got new customers by work of mouth important to be professional at all times
OFS = acting lt i am representing the entire department but also my crew looks to me to set the appropriate example
HFD= when i am driving its important to fallow laws , other wise looks bad on the entire city staff
F1= internationally televised event to 90 million people
initiative
Strathmere= showed passion and asked for opportunities to learn and grow
Man c= used the same initiative to ask and learn how to do skills
OFS= joined tanker shuttle, making of newest rural water video, became an instructor and always looked for more opportunities to be involved
HFD continue to train even if there is no scheduled training , continue to learn the district and city
integrity
MC= easy to not put every piece of rebar or make sure every piece is tied
P.O. sadler= working in people home for sometime months unsupervised, easy to take short cuts or hide mistakes
OFS= as an office if i don’t know something to state that and find the correct info
HFD=People are trusting us with their loved ones and expecting us to treat them with respect
DC= taking call from home imperative to keep patient confidentiality
Language
F1 work with a team in a primarily French environment
Traveling= common to have to over come language barriers
Leader ship
Strathmere= being a leader at a young age , leading a team to complete multi course meals
M.C= crew leader and in charge of forming and finishing concrete porches
P.O. general contractor, my job to coordinate trades and evaluate progress to keep project on schedule
OFS acting Lt. crew relies on my leadership to keep them safe at emergences
