Q

What is dynamic equilibrium?

A

When reactions are continuing to happen but the rate of the forward reaction is equal to the rate of the reverse reaction. The amounts of reactants and products are constant.

Q

Things that can change the position of equilibrium are:

A
  • pressure (increase means shift to the side with less gas molecules)
  • temperature (increase means shift to the endothermic side)
  • concentration (increase in reactants means shift to the right)

Q

What is the position of equilibrium?

A

Equilibrium means the concentrations of the reactants and the products stay constant.
Position of Equilibrium is how much of either the reactants or the products there is. If there is more of the reactants, then the position lies to the left. If there is more of the products, then the position lies to the right.
