Research Variables
Independent Variable, Dependent Variable, Confounding Variable.
Ethical Guidelines
Informed Consent, Debriefing, Confidentiality, Withdrawal
Generalizability
Needs to represent the sample (diverse and representative of a larger population), lab conditions cannot be generalized as well.
Longitudinal
Follow the same group of participants over an exteded period.
Cross-sectional Study
Comparing different age groups at one point in time to infer trends.
Experimental Study
manipulate a variable and measure its effect on a dependent variable while controlling for confounds.
Naturalistic observation
Researchers observe behavior in real life without interference, no manipulation.
Case study
In depth analysis of one individual or group
Correlational study
Tries to measure the relationship between two variables, does not infer causation.
