How to answer essay questions?
A good structure may include the following:
Introduction – paragraph(s) providing the main answer, or definition of the concepts. Goal: To demonstrate knowledge and understanding, and that you know the answer.
Main body – paragraph(s) providing critical arguments (pros/cons; advantages/disadvantages), explaining details, listing and explaining factors, main points and linkages between them. May support answers using example(s) or empirical evidence. Goal: to demonstrate critical thinking and in-depth understanding.
Concluding remark – paragraph(s) where you conclude. May also add further discussions, e.g., own opinion, practical implications, bigger issues, etc. Goal: to demonstrate your ability to link theory to practice.
