What was the Reformation?
A period of religious change driven by King Henry VIII wanting to split from the Pope and the Catholic Church.
What complaints did Martin Luther have with the Catholic Church?
He disagreed with the churches policy on indulgences (paying money to the church to obtain forgiveness for sins.
Why did Henry VIII create the Church of England?
So he could divorce Catherine of Aragon and marry Ann Boylene and have a son to inherit the throne once he died.
What did Elizabeth I introduce to keep both religions happy?
The act of Supermacy meant that even though she was a Protestant, she allowed the Catholics to stay and look up to the Pope as church leader. She also called herself the Supreme Governor of the church instead of the Head of the church to keep the Catholics happy.

How did the civilian experience of war change
Civilians were expected to pay taxes to fund wars from 1500-1900. They were also expected to provide food and shelter for soldiers but not as much 1700-1900 as more wars were fought abroad. This also meant war was also less dangerous for civilians 1700-1900. Women became directly involved as army nurses 1700-1900.
