Sugar Act

England lowers the price of tea but keeps a tax on it so it would be the same price as usual and they would just make even more tax money

1) closed Boston harbor until all tea was paid for
2) ability to take trials back to England
3) quartering act more strongly reenforced
4) government officials will now be appointed not elected
Quebec Act
Legislative government in Canada is appointed by King and Catholics get special privileges
Conciliatory act
Colonies can collect tax on the trade money they acquire in their boundaries but had to make voluntary contributions back to England
Continental congress
A group of representatives from each colony to pass decisions for the colonies and write important documents
Battles of Lexington and concord
First battles of the revolutionary war and the British were attacking to try and destroy the supply house of weapons of the colonies and capture Sam Adams and John Hancock
Sons of Liberty
A patriot group founded to organize protest against Britain
What are the results of the stamp act congress
The declaration of rights and grievances was passed which said that parliament had no right to pass these acts and tax the colonies
Letters of a Pennsylvania farmer
Written by John Dickinson. Says that parliament has a right to regulate colonial commerce but not change taxes to make revenue
Boston massacre
Occurred when sons of Liberty were bullying some soldiers so they shot into the crowd because they thought their lives were endangered
What was the objective of the tea act
To sell the tea that was sitting and not making England any money
Battle of bunker hill
3 waves of British soldiers came up the hill and the first 2 were defeated but the 3rd overcame the colonists
Battle of Quebec
Colonies thought they could beat England here when they were totally wrong. 2 forces came up, 1 from NY and the other from Maine. They got crushed in this battle
